From Individual Social Graph to Group Social Graph
The web is turning to next level for connecting people and information. Social network websites are connecting cyber-life and real life. I am also thinking on a new trend on social graph of social network websites.
People are currently talking on Individual Social Graph, but I am thinking on Group Social Graph which should be the next big thing.
People have more ID in many different social network websites. A website doesn’t know people’s friends on B website, that’s a current problem of current Web. Many guys believe there is a great way to solve this problem.
Some websites have new features to let users input data from other websites by open APIs and RSS feed. We can mash up our dispersive personal data from multiple websites to create our integrated identity.
But I notice it is difficult to mash up group’s data from multiple websites. Many Web2.0 websites have Groups feature which let people discuss on issues and follow the rule of the group. Some websites provide RSS feed for the discuss thread of group. But a Group’s RSS feed in A website couldn’t be use inside a Group on B website. Let me try to point out the difficulties of the matter. There are obvious limitations on the Group feature of many websites. The creator and administrators of Group have limited power to promote growth of the group. There are not a data interface for input RSS or other data at a Group page on many websites. Users can’t customize the sidebar of Group like they do well on their blogs. In fact, there is not sidebar at Group page……
I believe that phenomenon should evolve. We should push Group Social Graph which could create Group Identity by mash up dispersive data in new level environment in the future.
